Slight Movement in the MF cylinder Lock Case – Is This Normal?

Some customers notice that the locking part of the Simpled MF Cylinder moves slightly or “wobbles” when the lock operates.

This can sometimes cause concern, but in most cases, this movement is normal.

Why Does the MF Cylinder Move Slightly?

Due to the floating design of the locking part, a small amount of movement can occur each time the lock engages.

This movement is part of the design and does not automatically indicate a problem.

When Is the Movement Not an Issue?

The movement itself is not necessarily an issue as long as:

  • The cylinder remains securely screwed into position
  • The fixing screw is properly tightened
  • The cylinder stays stable within the door

As long as the unit is firmly installed and functioning correctly, slight movement during locking is acceptable.

Can It Be Fixed More Firmly?

Yes.

There are optional screws and screw holes available that allow a more direct fixing to the door itself, if that is your preference.

In the screw pack supplied with the lock, there are screws suitable for:

  • Wooden doors
  • Metal doors

Using these optional fixings can provide a more rigid installation if desired.

Please refer to the installation image for the exact screw hole positions.

(See picture for screw hole locations.)
