How can I disable or reduce the built-in WiFi activity on my SS Series lock and use the Simpled Hub or Matter instead?
Applies to SS Series models: SS-SP, SS-SPS, SS-SPW, SS-BB, SS-BS. This article explains how WiFi Sleep Mode works, when to use it, and how the Simpled Hub manages connectivity and Matter integration.
If your SS Series lock has a weak WiFi signal at the door or you want to improve battery life, you can reduce or disable continuous WiFi activity by turning on WiFi Sleep Mode in the app. These models include built-in WiFi, but they do not stay permanently connected once Sleep Mode is enabled. Instead, the lock only wakes periodically to sync, which normally improves stability and reduces battery consumption.
This option is useful when the router is far from the entrance, the door is metal or thick, or the signal drops due to frames or the surrounding structure.
To enable WiFi Sleep Mode:
- Open the app
- Select your lock
- Go to Settings → WiFi → WiFi Sleep Mode
- Turn Sleep Mode on
- (Optional) Set a preferred sync schedule
After Sleep Mode is enabled, the lock no longer relies on continuous built-in WiFi connectivity.
Important note about Matter and the Simpled Hub
These SS Series models do not join Matter directly over their built in WiFi.
Matter is supported when the lock is connected via the Simpled MG Matter-enabled Hub, which acts as the bridge.
With WiFi Sleep Mode enabled:
- • The built in WiFi remains inactive most of the time
- • The Simpled Matter Hub becomes the primary connection path
- • This generally provides better reliability and battery performance
If the customer still experiences issues after enabling Sleep Mode, support should review WiFi environment, Hub placement, and schedule configuration before escalating.
