Emergency Physical Keys – Duplication and Replacement
Can I get extra physical keys or make a copy?
Emergency physical keys are non-duplicable and non-replaceable.
This is a fixed security feature of the lock.
What “non-duplicable and non-replaceable” means
- You cannot:
- Make a copy of the emergency key
- Order additional emergency keys
- Replace a lost emergency key
- The keys included in the box are the only physical keys that will ever exist for that lock. If a key is lost, it cannot be recovered or reissued.
What you must do
- Store emergency keys in a safe and clearly remembered location
- Do not leave the only key:
- Inside the locked property
- In the lock or near the door
- Treat the physical key as a last-resort backup, not a daily-use key
Why this matters
- Prevents permanent loss of physical backup access
- Avoids emergency lockouts that cannot be resolved with a new key
- Helps customers understand this limitation before a problem occurs
Quick summary
- Emergency physical keys cannot be copied
- Emergency physical keys cannot be replaced
- The supplied keys are the only ones you will ever have
- Store them securely and plan ahead
Once a key is lost, there is no way to issue another one but to replace the lock.
