EF Model – Replacement Front Panel (Outside Handle) Installation

Step-by-step guide to replacing the external handle and reconnecting the lock correctly

Replacing the front panel (outside handle) on the EF model requires careful handling of the power cable, spindle, and internal components.

Follow the steps below in order to avoid damage and ensure the lock powers up correctly after installation.

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Remove Battery Cover
    Take off the battery cover from the inside unit.

  2. Disconnect Power Cable
    Press the securing tab on the connector and gently wiggle the plug out.
    Do not pull forcefully.

  3. Remove Batteries
    Take out all batteries before continuing.

  4. Remove Fixing Screws
    Unscrew the two screws holding the lock to the door.

  5. Remove Front Panel
    Carefully pull the front panel away, making sure the power cable is not snagged or stretched.

  6. Release the Spindle
    Lift the hooked end of the U-clip to release the spindle from the old panel.

  7. Prepare the New Panel
    Ensure the U-clip is fitted into the spindle receptor on the new panel.

  8. Check Spindle Alignment
    Locate the arrow on the spindle receptor.
    It must point away from the door, in the same direction as the handle.

  9. Insert the Spindle
    Push the spindle into the new panel until it clicks into place.

  10. Refit Through the Door
    Insert the spindle back through the door and guide the power cable through the correct hole.

  11. Reconnect Power Cable
    Feed the cable through the inside panel slot and plug it into the socket above the batteries.
    Ensure the securing tab faces upwards.

  12. Reinsert Batteries
    Insert the batteries. The lock should power up.

App Setup After Replacement

  • The replacement panel will be detected as a new lock in the app

  • You will be prompted to add a new administrator

Important:
Make sure to import settings from the old lock into the new one using the app.

To let the U-Clip release the spindle, pull up the exposed hook end of the clip circled in red above.

Always check the position of the small arrow punched into the spindle receptor
