Do Simpled Smart Locks Have Insurance Approval?

This is one of the most common questions we receive:

Are Simpled smart locks approved by a specific insurance provider?

At the moment, Simpled smart locks are not currently registered under a specific UK insurance certification scheme.

However, we are actively reviewing future certification pathways and plan to pursue relevant approvals as part of our ongoing product development.

What Does This Mean for You?

Not being registered under a specific insurance scheme does not mean the locks are insecure.

All Simpled smart locks are built with strong digital security architecture and modern encryption standards.

Every Simpled smart lock features:

Bank-level encryption with 128-bit AES protection.

What Does “Bank-Level Encryption” Actually Mean?

The term “bank-level encryption” refers to the use of AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) — the same encryption protocol widely used in:

  • Online banking systems
  • Secure financial transactions
  • Government data protection systems
  • Encrypted communication platforms

AES-128 encryption protects the communication between:

  • The lock
  • The mobile app
  • Access credentials (codes, digital keys, permissions)

This means that data transmitted between devices is securely encrypted and protected from unauthorized interception.

In simple terms:

Your access credentials are not sent in plain text — they are protected using strong cryptographic security.

Physical & Digital Security Combined

Smart lock security is made up of two elements:

  1. Physical door security (the mechanical locking system)
  2. Digital security (encryption & access control)

Simpled locks are designed to integrate with secure locking mechanisms while providing encrypted smart access control.
